Taken, Not SpurredSynopsis:

From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Ruth Cardello comes the steamy debut to the Lone Star Burn series.

Would-be writer Sarah Dery has just turned twenty-five and feels like her life is on hold. She's done squat with her English degree and is just killing time working for her parents. So, when the opportunity to spend the summer working on a ranch in Texas comes her way, she jumps at the chance, figuring it might be just the jolt she needs to get her creative juices flowing.

Tony Carlton is a handsome and reclusive horse trainer with a tortured past and an eye for trouble, this time in the form of a naked blonde stranger he finds in his shower.

The wrong turn that led Sarah into the arms of this sexy, brooding cowboy turns out to be just what she needed to find her steamy inner voice, but will their connection be enough to break down Tony's defenses?

Sarah Dery headed to Texas to spend time with an old friend. Upon arrival no body was home so she went in and made herself comfortable and waited for Lucy to arrive home. Tony arriving home and not recognizing the SUV and horse trailer figured someone was in for a true Texas welcome. Catching Sarah in the shower he demanded to know what she was doing. No matter how gorgeous she was she didn't belong there. It appears Sarah arrived at the wrong ranch.
Wonderful book. I loved Sarah and her upbeat attitude. What better way to write a book then to experience things first hand and with someone as hot as Tony it sure was going to be fun. Tony avoided people and relationships of any kind. For some reason Sarah got under his skin. He figured a few nights in bed and he would be over it. Tony tried so hard to come off as big and bad but Sarah could see through it. Plenty of hot sex, humor and sweet romance. Hard to put the book down.

Melanie knew it was time to head back to New York and confront the father of her son. She had never told him about Jace. It was time to do the right thing. Charles Dery was attracted to Melanie ever since they first meet when he went the Double C Ranch to get his sister Sarah. Now Sarah wants him to pick Melanie up at the airport and make sure everything is ok while she is in New York. He was determined to not get involved. Besides Melanie did everything possible to act like she wasn't attracted to him.
Wonderful second book in the Lone Star Burn series. Can be read as a standalone, but you miss the first meeting between Charlie and Melanie in the first book. Charlie was suits, work and high society. Melanie as your country girl that didn't take crap off anybody and actually preferred to be left alone. When the two get together the sparks fly. If they ever have a chance of a relationship they are both going to have to learn to compromise. Also Charlie is going to have to accept the fact that Melanie has a son.
