Baby Mine (The Amour Series #1)-

Snippet from Baby Mine

Jealousy speared through my heart, making me wish my childhood had been that way. From the moment my sperm donor walked out our door, my mother became a stranger. I would still fight for her return until I took my last aching breath.

I am a 22 year old girl from Essex, UK. I have worked as a support worker for the elderly and those with learning disability since I left college in 2011. I have been writing poetry and short stories since I was three, publishing my poems through my school when I was seven. I have always loved writing and I don’t see myself ever stopping. In 2016 I will hopefully begin my university course in midwifery, my other dream. Between writing and working fulltime as a midwife, I know I’ll be happy.

I am also the organiser of the Essex Author Extravaganza 2016, the first Essex author event, that will bring authors from all over the globe to one place. I am very proud of myself for all of my achievements. I currently have three full length novels self published and Baby Mine will make that four.

Interview with Shannon Dobson

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

What were you like at school?

I was a nerd. I never got detention and focused on my studies. I wasn't the popular child but I never let it get to me because I enjoyed class.

Were you good at English?

Yes. I loved my English teacher so that helped a lot. She was strict but pushed me to to do well.

What genre are your books?

Romance/erotica/a little BDSM in the lockdown series

What draws you to this genre?

The intensity and the escapism from the real world

So, what have you written?

I have written three books in one series, the LockDown Series and Baby Mine, book 1 in The Amour Series

How much research do you do?

When it comes to real issues I research a lot. In the LockDown series there is scenes of drug abuse and I researched online about it a lot. My browser history would've probably got me arrested.

When did you decide to become a writer?

When I was a child. At 3 I started writing poems and receiving awards for them at school and quickly moved on to short stories. I've always said to my mum and dad I wanted to be an author or an archeologist.

What made you decide to sit down and actually start something?

My family gave me the confidence and seeing self published authors doing it I decided why not.

Do you write full-time or part-time?

Part time. I work 60-80 hours a week as a support worker.

Do you have a special time to write or how is your day structured?

No. It's more of a 'when I'm awake enough' or not working.

Do you write every day, 5 days a week or as and when?

Maybe twice a week.

Do you aim for a set amount of words/pages per day?

No pressure. I write what I can. Most of the world famous authors, like Stephen King, write 1k words a day maximum. It's not about quantity it's about quality.

Where do the your ideas come from?

My deviant mind ;)

Do you work to an outline or plot or do you prefer just see where an idea takes you?

I've never planned or written anything down about my books. I've just used my imagination and gone with it.

What is the hardest thing about writing?

Finding the time and peacefulness.

What is the easiest thing about writing?

Telling my characters story

How long on average does it take you to write a book?

3-6 months of writing

Who designed your book cover/s?

I do all my covers myself

If you could write with any other author who would it be and why?

Tiffany Riesz. I idolise the woman. She is a goddess at writing.

ABOUT YOUR BOOK

What made you start writing Baby Mine?

I have read so many billionaire romances where the guy is a jerk or a self obsessed twat. I wanted to write about a man with lots of money but an enormous heart for the girls to fall in love with.

Is Dustin a real person? If so can I have his number

There's a Dustin out there for everyone. He may not have the millions and flashy houses, but there's a man who'll treat you just as well.

If you had 24hrs with Dustin, what would you do?

Go to a diner, eat burgers and fries. Walk along the beach and the rest is... Well I don't kiss and tell ;)

What made you come up with your characters names?

I love using baby name lists. I like unusual names for my characters, names most people don't know or haven't heard much of.

Is Baby Mine based on real life?

In a lot of ways yes. Some of the story definitely has happened to many people. Drug abusing mother, psycho ex girlfriend, unplanned baby. A lot of people have been there.

How many book’s do you plan for these Series?

How ever many my crazy mind makes up. So far I have three books planned in my head just need to get it down on paper.
