Review: Trail of Aces

Trail of Aces Trail of Aces by Merry Farmer
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Charlie Garrett is headed west with the wagon train to get a new start. All Olivia Walters wants is to head west and teach. Leaving home after turning down Silas's proposal. He wouldn't take no for an answer and listening to her mother tell her what a mistake she made. Olivia was ready to go fulfill her dreams. Playing poker with Charlie to pass the time, she ended up right back in the place she was trying to avoid. Charlie thought Olivia was bluffing when she agreed to marry him if she lost that hand of cards. She calls his bluff. Even standing in front of the preacher Charlie is waiting for her to say it was a joke but she never does. When his past catches up with him he realizes he wants Olivia as his wife and will do what ever he can to keep her. Olivia is torn between making things work with Charlie or letting his past tear them apart.

Another great book in the series. Each can be read as standalones. Olivia at times could be cold and unforgiving. As her life comes to light you start to understand where she is coming from. Charlie wasn't to honest about his past until he needs to prove to Olivia he is a changed man. I have fallen in love with the characters in this series. Can't wait until the next book. I am hoping it is Pete's story. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
